Hi Jim,
Well I hope you get some Relief soon we just got off a 3 week binge no rain
and severe sun it burned my garden flat...it rained again last night I just come
in from feeding the cats outside everything's wet..
The amplifier is grounded grid very simple it's the powers supply that's involved
I put stepstarts in there and I think there's some issues. It has been sitting for
about 5 years now and I don't have a 220 Variac I wish I did so I took a chance
on plugging it in and turnen the knobs... the plate's just a 2000 volt transformer
with a full wave bridge with step start on the input and a relay interlocks with
another relay initiator inside the Amp box with a turn lock switch and it all has to
work sequentially. it's all for safety and if the Op don't know the sequence it
doesn't come on..this was built when my harmonics were little...had to watch out
for 3 sets of Little fingers back then I was putting in 12 hour days at Estes Express.
So, yesterday was the first time bringing it up and the Low Voltage 110 system
come right up, Filaments lit, tested the safety resets for grid and Plate overload all
relays worked just fine, initiated Plate voltage circuit and there was a snap and the
tranny started Humming overload circuit clicked off and my safety system took over
powering down, it was Great My safety checks worked...
So I think Today I'm gona Order a whole new set of everything on the diode board
and get to taking apart the transformer input relays and see what failed..
Hey thanks for the interest mine is very basic I took it from one of Bill Orrs books
back then real simple basic 813 amp. but I added the safety interlocks.
