Thanks Paul. I went thru a similar night of "Cruzin" back in 1959 and lived to tell about it.

That movie did a fantastic job in capturing the feeling of what it was like in those days. Might have been a little "dramatically enhanced", but cruzin' was what we lived for in the late 50's and early 60's. Seemed like our whole existence revolved around cars (and girls) and riding around town...from one drive-in joint to another.
It was sure different then when 4-5 guys could pile in the old Chevy, chip in a buck a piece, and fill the gas tank! (Regular gas was 29.9 cents/gal.) We would ride around town all night...it was important just to be seen and to see everybody else at all the favorite hangouts.
Of course now, most of the towns around here actively prohibit cruising and pretty much discourage such activity, so even if the kids could afford the gas, they don't cruise much any more.
