..hi from tim..cant seem to find my info, but i'm looking fer the skizmatic for various solid state replacements for 5u4/5v4/5y3... diodes, etc..pin-outs, etc...got some blown tubes, and want to solid state the low voltage on some stuff...sk..

mouser, etc have   1n4007s by the bagfull... they are cheep ,  1A 1KV,   just string em up... a busted tube makes a good plug, or get a plug at a fest, etc......   klc

Fyi, the added diodes in the PS schematic for the Valiant is to get a higher B+ for the modulator tubes - it's not a "stock" conversion to solid state rectifiers. Otoh, the diagrams on the bottom show what to do with Octal plugs to put diodes in the hole.

A case can be made to control the application of the B+ via a means of delay until the filaments are warmed up. A relay and switch or a relay and time delay circuit will suffice, although there are other ways to accomplish this.

I ripped out the glass and put a hunk of vector board in the hole. 5 1n4007s in series each leg. anode end to the plate so you need 2 strings. Cathode to cathode end of string. my V2 at full bore is getting 760 volts with 16 uf output cap. Make sure you have good spacing between strings. I used G10 vector board. The board sticks out of the tube base a couple inches. stock rectifiers had about 100 volts drop.

Tim, you're  better off with 1N5408 rectifiers. These are 3A 1000V PIV  diodes.   Easy to find.
