I always got a big laugh out of how Gary Larsen portrayed cats and dogs in The Far Side.

Dogs say to theirselves, " You feed me, give me water, affection, and shelter. You must be a god." A cats say to theirselves, " You feed me, give me water, affection, and shelter. I must be a god!"

Mikey that brought a smile to my face.
Being close to the dog and the cats, I can say it is so true.

I second that!

Hey, Paul,

I kinda know the feeling, though I've ALWAYS been a "cat person".  We lost Sadie in '05 (age 19), who was my absolute favourite.  In '04 we lost Penny (almost 19) and in '06 we lost Al to kidney disease shortly before moving to North Carolina.
Here's a great shot of "Sadester" sitting in front of my D104...

Steve

PS-- BTW, I will be getting the radio gear out in October.  Things are starting to coalesce here since we moved and I suspect that November/december will be the best time to set up after the leaves have left the trees.  Since the average daily high here should still be pushing 60 it will be a GREAT time for antenna weather!!

I am still adjusting and trying to find a job, otherwise.

Steve,

Piedmont region, North Carolina...

Thanks again for all the comments and empathy with the sense of loss we've all got here at the house. I spent a good while at the hamfest with Bill KA8WTK, who has some great "cat tales" himself. Thanks Bill, especially, for your sympathy.

For those with cats, here's who's left, and you'll understand what's what.

"Sorbet," 16 1/2, rescued in the winter of 1991 by Pam's brother who found her FROZEN to the road after a snowstorm, has the same progressive kidney failure as our departed "Cleo." It got worse after Cleo left us, and now we've got a sub-skin fluid injection system to replace what the kidneys no longer pass.

"Harley," 14, a big, loud girl cat rescued as a feral kitten from the shrubbery near Pam's townhouse in Frederick Maryland, has not been herself. Here, a few minutes ago, she was gazing rather forlornly out the sliding glass door when I came in. Not usually her "spot," so I guess she's searching for her missing house-mate.
