If you go by the number of monetary doners to this site, it is painfully clear that support has substantially dropped off from a few years ago.
People die, lose interest, change hobbies, leave in a huff, whatever.
Aside from the afore mentioned, what has caused the drop off in participation and what can be done about it?
I like this site. It's the only one I donate to. It would be a loss for everyone if it went away.
I am curious what the user demographic is. Maybe there is something more this site can offer to drum up support? What do you think?

......It would be a loss for everyone if it went away.

K1JJ and I were talking about this a couple of weeks ago.  It would be very disappointing if all the information people contributed to this site were lost.  The construction project posts, schematics, tips and tricks, mentoring, all the technical discussion, you name it that has occurred here and is all archived, one can't put a price tag on that info.

It is archived and backed up.

19.1 GB (20,528,107,520 bytes) is the archive size.

But, when the copyright page for AMFone hasn't been updated since 2019, it's telling.

When nobody has updated SMF.....  When "Simple Machines has released a new patch to the 2.1.x line of SMF, bringing our latest release version to 2.1.6."

So, there is new forum software available that brings it into this decade, that gets rid of the need for .swf files.

I'd be happy to entertain working on getting the site back up 100 percent, but there would have to be changes.  Almost everyone with technical contributions has been run off.  Where is Don and the rest.

They aren't posting here, but QRZ they have no issue with.

This site is circling the drain.  Something needs to happen soon.  The fact that nobody is being forthright led to archiving of the site.

The fact of the matter is, nobody can do anything until a real administrator (owner) steps forward and says I don't want to deal with this anymore or otherwise gives something.

Otherwise...  This is what we get.

But, the meat and potatoes is saved.

I really don't know what to say here at this time. That I prefer this site over many other sites for good reasons which I find it hard to put into words. maybe in PM

One large benefit in particular is that someone does not have to be logged to simply read the board.

While I don't think it would be appropriate or constructive to get into a "this-site vs. that-site" comparison, though there are some subtle differences, there's something somewhat comforting and reassuring about this one. Maybe it's just that this was the first amateur radio-related site I joined, or perhaps it's just that this forum's smaller size makes it feel a bit more like a group of friends, even though most of us have never met or even spoken on the air. In any event, I'm not even remotely ready to give up on this site yet, and despite the ongoing issues, I plan to step up and contribute again this year, to support the site, for better or worse.

I agree on those points. I'd like this site to continue and have no problem contributing to it. The donation link does not seem to be available to me. "The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you." How to donate?

For me.....
This site is my heart.
This is a about good friends building things and sharing knowledge;
It gives people access to some really cool and knowledgeable people.
It's more of an engineering group, but down to earth and fun for everyone.
It's full of real knowledge and experience, but they are willing to help everyone...
It's fantastic,
It is the older style AM experienced, build it yourself people,
For me, to hear things of AM groups, friends, through all the years...its really priceless.
It is COOL!!
