Website is offline for good.

Anyone have any of their QuikCross 2020, 2022 installers
for Win?

They use to have a webform to fill out and a download link was supplied,
seems they ran on multiple platforms.

So NTE ELECTRONICS was a subsidiary of the ELECTRONICS BARN in Bloomfield NJ. Back about 25 years ago they were a great surplus place. The barn closed and NTE survived. Sad to see them go, but their semiconductor replacements were never inexpensive. They were the modern day version of RCAs “SK” and Motorola’ s HEP substitution line.

Philips/Sylvania ECG too.  I kept several of the various cross references for each vendor.

New Tone electronics (NTE) was started as a garage operation some time in the late 70's. Some time in the early 80's NTE moved to (depending on what door you walked through) 42/44/46/48 Farrand St. Bloomfield, NJ. At 48 Farrand St. they set up a walk-in retail store with lots of electronic (mainly computer related) stuff along with a retail counter where you could buy your semiconductor stuff domestic, Japanese, NTE, and later ECG.

I can't remember when Electronic Barn activity shut down and all sales going forward were done on line.

They also created another company called Solid State Inc. which besides semiconductors sold a variety of stuff.

This was posted on NTE's LinkedIn page last week:
"For more than 40 years, NTE Electronics Inc thrived with quality products, off-the-shelf delivery, and remarkable growth, earning respect across the industry while maintaining profitability under strong leadership. It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of NTE Electronics Inc. Following the sale of the company in late 2022, the new ownership's negligence and mismanagement in the past two years has resulted in financial difficulties, forcing the company to cease operations.

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated employees, loyal customers, suppliers, representatives, and partners who have supported NTE Electronics Inc. for over four decades. It has been a privilege to serve you, and we sincerely apologize for any complications and disappointment we may have caused during these challenging times.

Thank you for your trust and continued support."

I wonder if they are going to have dumpster walk-throughs anytime soon  Huh

As the RF Bipolar devices dried up they where a great source.

I was always able to count on their products to at least meet the minimum specs of whatever transistor was considered unobtanium at the time.

I just did a quick search over on the Bay using the keyword “Transistor” and it returned over 470,000 results. In the past several years I have done a lot of service and repair along with a bunch of construction work of my own and have never had an issue getting direct replacement parts both new and used. Had to replace a flock of MFR-150 in a 1 kW amplifier and found surplus panels from MRI machines that had two each for $50
Using eBay is both quick and easy and don’t know how any old school parts stores can compete with that? Forty years ago, when I was in school and working in a TV repair shop it was fun to go to the local parts store, hang around the counter and look at all the packs on the wall with resistors, capacitors and the ECG replacement devices but those days are gone.  Speculation is that we had things like ECG and later NTE replacement guides because it was only possible at that time to try to substitute generic parts for repair but I think it’s a different world today. With the internet you can pull up the data sheet for any device and if you cannot get that device using the data sheet you can usually find a replacement without much difficulty.
The real question is how long will we be able to get thru hole components in this world of surface mount devices but then again there appears to be no shortage of things like axial electrolytic capacitors or tubes on the Bay so think we are good for some time now. There are 558 listings available for 71 tubes including NOS still in the box, not bad for a tube that I think may have gone out of production before WW2
