I was using an old CB rig that I had converted to legitimacy on 10 meters using the mod developed by Jerry K5JC:

I was running 4 watts on AM to a Hex beam.  The signal path was over 1800 miles from Virginia to Idaho.

Making AM GREAT Again!

I cut the output from the triple that feeds the loop input on the cobra 29 Ltd Classic.

That gave me a funky functioning vfo on a cobra 29!

Changed the final to an IRF520 and it does an easy 15 watt carrier 115 percent peaks.

Those little CBS with a decent grid driven amplifier work great.

So the stock CB radio was not considered "legitimate"?
I'm so glad you modded it to the "Ham" band to make it "legal".
Can't have them damn illegal radios around.
