Title: 10 AM QSO with KA1BWO Post by: N2CQR on January 17, 2024, 05:36:17 AM I was using an old CB rig that I had converted to legitimacy on 10 meters using the mod developed by Jerry K5JC:
http://www.jcoffman.net/WB5RUA/10_meter_AM_conversion_w_Photos.html I was running 4 watts on AM to a Hex beam. The signal path was over 1800 miles from Virginia to Idaho. That gave me a funky functioning vfo on a cobra 29! Changed the final to an IRF520 and it does an easy 15 watt carrier 115 percent peaks. Those little CBS with a decent grid driven amplifier work great. --Shane WP2ASS / ex KD6VXI Title: Re: 10 AM QSO with KA1BWO Post by: W9BHI on January 29, 2024, 09:51:20 AM So the stock CB radio was not considered "legitimate"?
I'm so glad you modded it to the "Ham" band to make it "legal". Can't have them damn illegal radios around.
