It was reported on the 3837 kHz LSB Bruce Kelley Antique Wireless Association Net this morning that Al W1VTP has had a stroke.  This was first learned on the Sunday net, normally run by Al.
My search of this site did not reveal any previous posting on this. I do not have any details. Perhaps one of you knows more.

As I recall, he didn't show up on the Sunday March 19th AM Carrier net, which is unusual for him. I wasn't on the net this past Sunday, so I don't know. I don't believe he participated in the AWA net that same Sunday afternoon, the 19th, either. Prayers for Al - he's a great guy.

Sorry to hear this news also, we were wondering about him not being on during this past Sunday morning’s AM Carrier Net, and I had a very uneasy feeling later that day when he was not running the AWA AM/PM pre-net.  He and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I wrote to Al and wanted to pass along his response...

"Say the word around the net.  I'm OK for the time being and will be around for a while."

Two thumbs up. All good...

Folks:

Happily I also got a reply from Al. He is doing well after multiple strokes. His speech is good.

Excellent news!

Looking for his powerful signal on 75 and maybe we'll see him at Near-Fest!

Dan  I apologize for not replying..  the emails for your kind thoughts were overwhelming . I tried to reply to all of you.

I had three strokes and they are trying to regulate the results with changes in my medications.  I am back on the air but no class E station.    thanks to Chuck for taking over my job on the AWA PM AM net..  I am talking well and perhaps a little unsteady on my feet but am getting around  OK

I feel well considering.  all of my important family members have travelled literally tousands of miles to be with me.  My grand daughter did my FIT for me so that's filed and in in plenty of time.  I'll be waiting for a firewire cable so I can operate my flelx 3000 for my class E station.

Hi Al!  Good to see you’re up and about and doing well considering!  Hang in their old friend and keep those spirits up.  It’s also good to know your family is pitching in to help.

You are very much missed on the Sunday morning AM Carrier Net, Al. Looking forward to hearing that big signal again.

Hi All:

I just spoke with Al a few minutes ago (Monday around 1:15PM). He had another stroke Friday, which has affected his balance. He is in the hospital now, will start rehab soon and afterwards will head home.

His speech and mental capacity are quite good. If you wish to call him on his cell phone, please PM me, or you can send your wishes here and I will call him later in the week with the messages.

I spoke to him last Friday. He sounded quite good and was looking forward to getting home. He expected to be released tomorrow. I haven't spoken to him since.
