SX-28, Diving In

The SX-28 cleaned up ok.  Minor rust on the chassis, the underside looks very good.  I am following the example here to get at all the caps:

I manged to get the first RF section out, that is a bit of surgery!  

Unfortunately, when I pulled out the bandswitch shaft, the center (turning) part of the front most bandswitch pushed out the turning bit of the wafer switch.  :-(

Nothing appears damaged, the contacts are just bent out of the way.  No idea how I am going to get that back in there........

...some folks may have a parts chassis hanging about, depending on if you can repair it or not a replacement may be called for.

Here is the wafer switch part that pushed out.  Maybe I can bend the contacts and get it back in.  Maybe not....

I suggest you look for a replacement part.  Bending those contacts can be a pita and puts undue stress on them.  They may be a problem from now on if you do that.

How are the fingers?

IF the fingers are still ok, then you can likely slide it back in... in some cases you may need to gently drill out a rivet
or two that holds the fingers first, remove the fingers, then replace them with either a rivet/eyelet (if you have one) or
small screws w/locking compound on the nuts. You can buy small hardware on the internet/ebay these days.

Those are likely #2 or #1 size screws... there are also metric sizes and British thread sizes too... for that exact fit!
There are also #0 size...
