10 Meters Is Dead, Long live 10 Meters

Partial list of 10 meter AM QSOs in the last week. Stations using more than 25 watts are not detailed.

Monday 2/2 worked GW8TBG for several minutes including calling and exchanging signal report using 750 milliwatts carrier at my end.

Also worked IW5EKR with same power some time last weekend.

2/2 WE7L who was using 20 watts carrier and a 1/4 wavelength groundplane.
W5KOU who was using HTX-100 @ 25W and dual band Comet.

KC2UDZ during the week (forgot the day) 14 miles air distant both of us using barefoot Kw TS-440s. Ken can hear my 750 milliwatts at s-5 and I hear his one watt and vertizontal antenna no problem.

May wait a while before ripping the 10 meter antenna down. It may fall apart on its own anyway.

I heard your QSO with WB6QKO.  I was listening on my 75 meter dipole at 25 feet, on the west side of the house away from you.  Excellent signal from California, your signal was just Q5, very good for 74 miles between us!

      Interesting.

If my audio sounded weird it would have been backscatter. If not your antenna may just have a lobe this way. We should try a sked if you can deliver 10 meter energy to the antenna.
