I'll check it out...neat way to check effectiveness of Ham antenna system
Fred
The network of remote receivers at Globaltuners.com is also a great resource, although a lot of the nodes have pretty noisy locations and marginal antennas. Paul, VJB just gave me info on how to use a smartphone to access the globaltuners receivers (I think I have all the bits here, doing it from bio-memory):
Select JavaScript as the front panel mode
Select AJAX
Select HTML 5
Start AJAX
Start audio at preferred quality/bandwidth level
Press the play arrow when it comes up.
Navigate around the control panel to operate the receiver you have connected to.
Thre will be some latency, I'm seeing about 10 sec or so typically on AT&T 4G networks
The JavaScript GUI is kind of clunky, but will work on a smartphone. I have not been able to use the other GUIs (I typically use the Modern GUI mask on a PC or iMac) on the iPhone 4S.
You have to register on the site home page and log in for each session, but its free. Listening to the W1TXT SE New England Node as I'm updating this post. Just switched the receiver to 75 meters, think I'll listen to 3705 AM while I am on the way home, Isn't technology great?
Did I get that right Paul? Plesse fill in the details as needed.
