It's alive. IT'S ALIVE!!!

« on: April 14, 2013, 09:35:26 PM »

I've reached a point of my partial restoration where I decided not to go "hog wild" and polish IF cans, etc.  its good enough. However, in my reassembly, I've run into a minor snag.

A few wires broke loose from the meter switch. In particular, not sure where the white wire, with the blue and brown stripe goes. The meter is reading audio output in either position of the switch. The schematic doesn't list colors of the wires.

I'm listening to someone in Italy on 20m while I write this. The aerial is a short hank of wire about 5' long attached to the antenna terminal.

I think this will be the receiver to match up with the Valiant. The R388 is a familiar radio and I've always liked them. Not sure what I'll do with the HQ180 yet, but the 388 seems to have better audio.

Thanks!

I'm outta control, plain and simple. Now I have a broadcast transmitter.
