I have this sad news to report.  As the subject line states, our good friend Kim, KE3SX became a silent key the afternoon of November 12th.  I received an email last night from Kim's wife Donna asking me to pass the news along to the AM Community.

Kim was an avid AM'er operating on most bands with his assortment of fine transmitters.  His latest big rig, which he was very proud of came from Al, W1UX.  Kim was extreamy active on AM.  You could hear  him daily talking with the AM community on 75 and 40 meters.  Kim was also active on many of the AWA nets.

I don't have any details concerning Kim's passing.  If I hear anything more I will certainly pass it along.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Donna and his entire family.

Joe, W3GMS

I am shocked! While i just lost a house,
nothing compares to this. If Donna is on line maybe
she can read this thread, and  sure we will all pull for her and  help
in any way..

I just learned from Skip, K3CC that Kim passed from a massive heart attack.  Skip was with Kim at the time of his passing.  911 was called and they responded 8 minutes later but could not revive him.

Just heard about Kim on 40 meters. So sad. I had just signed with Kim and he was
heading to Skips (K3CC) place. As always helping out a friend. Kim.. you will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donna and Kim's family.
So it goes.

Very sad to hear this.  I lived about eight miles from Galeton and about the same from Germania for many years in Marshlands (Gaines, Pa. PO 16921), just across the Tioga/Potter Co. border from Kim.   Gaines Twp. had less than 500 residents and I believe, Germania about the same. Kim was a fine man in "God's Country."  Quite a shock.

The very best to Donna and family.

Wow....talk about unbelievable! Kim was ever-present on 40 & 80, can't begin to count the times I called CQ and Kim would answer, or pop into an ongoing conversation with Gene/PGI and the gang, Steve/HX or whoever else. The last time I worked him he was either working on or had just gotten that big rig on the air, can't recall. A lot of signal but audio was lacking and he was tinkering on whichever rig it was.

He was certainly one of the most active AMers and his signal will be missed from the bands.

Even though I only knew Kim for a short period of time I considered him a good friend, I will surely miss him jumping in and saying hello in the evenings on 3.705.  I pray that God will be with his wife and family as they work thru this time of sorrow.
His voice will be missed by many.

Thanks for the detail, Joe.
A damn shame.

Another reminder to make the most out of the time we have left among us.

I've got some recordings of him that I'll find and put together. Always good to have him along in a QSO.

I got to meet Kim in person last spring, I felt privileged that Kim went out of his way, to stop by my QTH, on his way
back from Delaware while, picking up a 813 hombrew amp. I'm glad I got a chance to hang out with him for a good hour or more , before he had
to travel another 4 or 5 hours home. I could tell, what a down to earth guy he was, with a great sense of humor.. We spent many hour chatting
on the radio.
Well Mr Kim, RIP buddy, you will be missed dearly!

I did a double-take spotting this posting just after reading about Bill KD0HG.  My God what a week.

I talked with Kim many times, usually via the AWA nets.

God bless Kim, Donna and the family.

Around 9PM tonight I received a call from Kim's widow Donna.  We chatted for about 10 minutes and it was good to have that opportunity.

She appears to be doing well considering the circumstances.  Family is with her and she is a women of strong faith.

She is viewing everyone's comments here on AMfone and wanted to thank everyone for their comments concerning Kim.

That's a shame, he does not look that old in the pic. Sorry to hear about it. How is it these heart attacks are sneaking up on apparently healthy people?

Well was on 160 meters first thing in the morning, heard my pal Kim passed. I was shocked! I knew Kim for only a short time. I met Kim and Frank on AM 40 meters when I got the courage to light up my dx-40 and friends instantly. Got to shake hands with the voice I heard so many times at the Butler Hamfest last. Great friend good guy and sadly will be missed by all. Never batted an eye to help a person in need. Very lucky to have the time I did with such a nice guy. 74 Kim rip de KB2OUA Tom Great Lakes....
