In the same vein, there is a huge stack of "gamma goat" amphibious vehicles at a scrapyard controlled by the military. They are literally rusting away, stacked neatly. Maybe 50-100 of them.
Cool vehicles but about as practical as a tank and mechanical nightmares too!
Back in 1969 my boat was in the old Charleston Naval Shipyard. There was a mountain there that mostly consisted of radios and electronics that must have been 30 ft tall, LM-21s and all sorts of 40s and 50s radio that was being pulled out of older ships during upgrades. It just sat there out in the rain and, since it was Navy property we couldn't grab any of it. It all went for scrap aluminum!
