Your rig must produce pretty good sidebands.

With all the heterodynes in the pileup an SSBer may not realize they're tuning thru HIS carrier. I've had slopbuckets answer my AM CQs on 40 thinking I was zero beat with a BC station.

With the way you sound, that's understandable!

You got a good ear, Paul.

Harps in A play great blues in E. A mode called crossharp or 2nd position.

Yup, I've got a Marine Band in E which sounds tight, but A has B-A's

I came into the shop to give it a try a little after 9 PM local and could hear QIX. I was on the dummy load!
Switched on the antenna and could hear K7UGA pretty well. I tried but couldn't get through. There were many 6 and 7 land stations working him at the time. Tried to call a couple of times, but could not stay out here late enough to get in.

Good job Clark! Sounded like fun.

See, that's all well and good...

But what I really want to know is if you were required to wear the glasses or not? Does everyone in that club station have to wear them too?

Those glasses are all the rage now. Many movie stars and sports figures can be seen wearing them. Here's New York Knicks star Amare Stoudemire sporting his.  Goldwater was ahead of his time!
