My BC-348 R frequency reads a little "off".  That is, 3850 is not half way between 3800 and 3900 (if that makes sense). The low band is off also, 1510 WLAC comes in below the 1500 mark.  How hard is this to fix?  Thanks as always.

Are the two off in the same direction on the dial?  If so, I'd check to see if the dial is mechanically off first.  There should be some kind of index marks on the ends of the scales.

Do an alignment first.  After that you will probably find that the tracking still leaves a lot to be desired and that it just isn't possible to make everything line up right on the marks.  That seems to be the consensus among those who have BC-348's, and I was told I was wasting my time trying to mess with the tracking, osc. rotor blade bending and all that in a heroic effort to get tracking on the nose. This is no R-390A.

It might be better to align it instead for accuracy at the ham segments and ignore the rest.

Watch out for the collar sleeves on the trimmers back on the RF boxes.  They sometimes split and break, causing the rotor and stator to short together. Lots of discussions of that here and other sites and in Electric Radio.

My BC-348J is off a little also.  I left it the way it is.  Too much work to get it exact.

I would check to see if all the bands are off in the same direction, could be the dial is not in the correct spot.

First remove the MVC OFF AVC lever from the set and send it to me...
