They are nice, Terry!

Yes Jim, they do put out and they hum while doing it.
It needs a little more caressing. Cool

The black lettering on the tube makes me want to guess Electro-Harmonix.

Heath had a line of little mono p.p. amps using the 6BQ5 which I think is the same thing as the EL84, models EA-1,2 and 3.  I have two and they are great little 12 w. amps for driving a big speaker with detector audio from a receiver.   12AX7 preamps in them.  Those 6BQ5s run really hot (to me at least) so I have muffin fans on mine and run them with the covers off.

Yepper. I got me an EA-2 that I found discarded by the sidewalk along with its matching speaker. Their was a sale that had been there the day before. The amp and speaker was put out with the trash. You know, nobody messes with that tube stuff anymore!  Smiley I used to use it with the diode output of my R390A. Great audio.

I dated a pair of 4-1000s but decided to marry a nice pair of 5R4s.

You got lucky Mikey.   The glass audio fanatics have pushed up the prices of vintage tube audio gear, even at hamfests.  Last year at a fest around here there was a guy (not a ham) with a pair of EA-2s and he wanted something like $300 for the pair.  I finally went up to him and told him this was a hamfest and he'll never sell those things unless he has a realistic price for them.  He didn't care.  I don't think he sold them either.
