500 bucks!!!  this thing can't be worth more that five bucks, right?  This is why I hate eBay!  I also hate the fact that people will look up an item on eBay to determine a value of something.  It is such an unrealistic indication of an items worth...some people bidding on items on eBay have WAY too much money to spend...its a global market, not local, and the bidding wars of course that can drive an item to 10 times its value at times.  Ooops, I guess i got a little off topic.

Definitely an interesting description style.  Two common "midwesternisms" that still bother me are "it costed me a lot for that radio" and "if he doesn't work harder he is going to loose his job".  I guess if someone is too "loose" with their work habits the job could get away so maybe that is what is meant by losing (or "loosing") a job.  I was pretty good at translating southeastern since I grew up exposed to that style of creative grammar.

If you look at completed auctions, the only one that sold in the last 30 days was for $135, which seems way high but it encourages people to list theirs. There are now 4 listed for sale, the one that is actually up for auction is at $10, with two bids and 4 days to go. It will sell. The others run from $129-500 and probably won't sell. Maybe the box is worth $400+.

Love the slightly cracked use of the language though!

It's a common tactic to bedazzle guillible goobers with money into buying something for way more than it is worth.  Key elements - the previous owner had it 'locked away' - implies it is super valuable. A friend of mine is expert in writing that kind of flashy tinsel, works in media. The whole thing is funny except that some poor sucker is going to fall for it. I could use another xstr checker. Ought to offer him $25 for it, seeing as it neds the cord replaced.
