Hello All!

     I was told by a fire inspector, that any transformers on the HID lighting in plants, in the city have to be replced with the "new" solid state ballasts. There are MANY plants in the area.

     Can I expect a bunch  of RF hash from those?

Probably not... especially if they are grounded... imo.

Odd that a fire inspector would have anything to do with electrical code??
And, a forced retrofit??
Sounds like some company got to some politicians and they are going to make a killing on the sales... hmmm...

Considering most codes are in place to prevent fires!!

When I did my addition in '98 my electrical rough-in was inspected by ............... Chief Dallas, the fire chief!

     I guess the new ballests don't put out the heat that the tyransformer type ballasts do.
