Scoring is a completely subjective evaluation of the number of one's stations worked, reported audio quality and strap. Entertainment value also can count.

There might also be a prize awarded as in the past. I am considering donating an Electro-Voice 667A broadcast dynamic, with an authentic cigarette burn in the foam windscreen.

And, as always, to be eligible to win, you need to be using a rig running at least 250 watts out and/or weighing in at 250 pounds or more. No Tuna Tins. This is a parade of AMs Tall Ships.

Logs, comments and detritus to Ray at ER magazine.

Ray at E.R., http://www.ermag.com/ informed me that he posted the Electric Radio Heavy Metal Rally rules for 2010 on the Electric Radio web site. You can view them here:

The info would have to be submitted to them well in advance. I'm not sure throwing it out to the general ham population would gather many additional participants.

If one of you has a major accident involving a major mercury spill from your MV rectifiers during the rally then I am sure the league will make an announcement so that the Emcomm types can descend upon your QTH with their belt full of HTs and their heads full of nothing but dreams of glory Smiley

I will be on with a Desk KW, Viking 500, probably a BC-610 and maybe a homebrew pair of 808's.  (but no MV rectifiers).

Mercury vapor rectifiers are, uh, rectifiers too.

Big heavy plastic rally this past weekend.   QST just reviewed the latest super plastic radio calling it a 46.3 pound GORILLA in the shack!   I wonder if it has rack handles!?!  Get the hoist!

Not as heavy as the one they reviewed in July 2010.

I went back and looked at that.  WOW!!!  That plastic radio weighed in at a whopping 70 POUNDS!!!  Shocked

The reviewer had to use a DOLLY to move it!!!!  AND, the power supply weighed TWENTY POUNDS!!!!

WHAT IS THE PLASTIC RADIO WORLD COMING TO?    He might have to pour concrete to hold that thing!

I noticed on page 146 of the new (Dec '10) QST that the Hilberling PT-8000 is coming back.

I was surprised too. The last blurb I saw sometime ago was that they were folding their tent on moving forward with a final design. Can't get really excited with their various color schemes.
