Although this was put up at the fybush site in 2005 it somehow escaped my attention until now. Al - WI1W sent me the links today and I enjoyed viewing the very nice pictorial essay of the inside and outside of the 50,000 watt WTIC AM 1080 transmitter facility and its companion FM transmitter site. There's quite a bit of history included as well some views of WFSB DTV 33's equipment. Included are some nice shots of the huge old open-air capacitors and tuning coils from the 1929 AM station as well as the tuning coils in current use. The station engineer, Jeff (N1KBY) is shown leaning against the base of one of the towers for the big AM clear channel station's antenna array. There are several other smaller stations sharing space at the site that will be known to most people in CT and southern MA. The transmitter site is about 15 miles south of my location.

At one time WTIC 1080 AM transmitter & antennas were located in the Travelers Insurance Company building in downtown Hartford. I have an old photo from early to middly 20s of the building with antennas on the roof.
