Using a 455 to 12 khz converter is it possible to receive a good quality ssb using a pc software that works on the downconverted 455 khz if and have software dsp filters and multimode detectors or those converters work only with drm software?

The conversion to 12 kHz is done only so that the signal is in the frequency range of a typical computer sound card. Once you've converted the signal to 12 kHz and connected it to you computer sound card, you can use any of a large number of software packages to filter, demodulate and display the signal.

Have fun.

Check out Soft Rock on Yahoo. There are a number of software packages that are free. Flex Power SDR can also be used and allows you to set it up with a 12 KHz offset.
