I would like to replace the small original S-meter with a more visible meter. I have one with FS 50uA and another with 100uA which one is the most suitable?
Thanks.

If your going for it, go "full size"....
Maybe extend the present meter & illumination wiring to a stand alone meter in a project box and place it where you like.

Or place a larger meter where the speaker is in a dummy panel or  in a salvage FRG-7 speaker grill from a parts radio so you keep the emblem and stock look. ( I would go that route )
Then use a matching Yaesu or other external spkr. for better audio also.
Both options would be reversible and give you many more meter options.
When you do it, post pics or a vid.
As to the best meter value / matches, I bow out to the board   Cool

Thanks Dylan.
This exactly what I have in my mind.
I'll put the new meter in the place of the speaker and I'll connect an extra better qulity speaker outside the receiver.
My point is that I also want to keep the old S-meter in place and on duty but to activate it with a separate panel switch.
I am still wondering what uA FSD would ask for the lesser modification.
I think the same as the original one BUT what is the uA FSD of the original S-meter? It is not written in the schematic or described in the manual.
Does anybody know?

I dont know.. But go to Foxtango.org and look around. Post on the forum.

What I wanted to do was to just buy the LG electronics external S meter. Make a plug on the back of the rig and set it ontop.
