Don,
still framed this off the video - thought you might like a new avatar pic. If the board wont take it due to sizing, I'll size it as needed. I dont know what the maximums are to fit.

Yes, that would be a good one. I haven't changed the one I have on now for years out of procrastination, and the one time I tried to modify it, for some reason I couldn't get it to work.
As you probably know, the one I have now is cropped from one of the photos you took the first time you were here.
Maybe I should name N3DRB as my official photographer.
I need a tutorial on how to change the avatar. I think last time the board had just installed new software and I couldn't get it to accept the change. That was a few years ago, and the old photo must be 10 years old now.

lets see- you have to go your profile tab up above and go to forum profile information, and choose upload your own photo, after downloading it to your machine first. maybe someone knows what he maximum pixel count is the board will accept for an avatar. that way I can just size it. I was trying to see how much video I could salvage from the original tape. someone who shall remain nameless taped over the master.

I just always use MS Paint because there's a stretch/skew function that you can specify x and y as percentage. I would reduce each time like 90% on both horizontal and vertical until it accepts the size, figuring within 10% is good enough.

IIRC, max pixels for your Avatar is 150h x 100w. And yes, MS Paint is a good tool for this. You can use Image / Attributes to find the current size. Calc the percent reduction needed. And use Image / Stretch/Skew to make it so. And check it with Image / Attributes before you save it. The attached image should save fine as an avatar.

Don, forget about changing your avatar. It is nearly impossible. I tried changing mine for a long time. never could get it to work. I gave up until Al W1VTP figured out a way and saved the day. If you pull your avatar off and try to put it back you won't be able to.

Wow, I found it not to be too difficult, you just have to have it within the size requirements....

i think as long as the longest pixel size of the photo is less than 150 vert and 100 horizontal in size its easy. I found I had to scale mine 1 pixcel under the limit or it would not work.
went to 99 pixels by 99 pixels, worked on the first upload no problem. you have to undersize it by 1 pixel under the maximum limits for it to work.

D ya, i found out most avatars were loaded by 3rd party, Gary or someone else. the hassle of getting whatever software is needed to figure out the pixel is not worth the trouble.

I sorta prefer Don's new picture over the old one. To me the new one is a lot more warm and friendlier looking than the old one.

I remember installing the original one was no problem, but that was when the board was using the previous software. Later, I tried to change it, but eventually gave up - not worth the hassle.

Check out mine Just uploaded it. Not to hard. Just has to be small. You can open the picture in paint, Then use the size feature. Put in 50% and 50%. Then it will cut it down. Keep doing that until its small enough to upload. C

Actually, Derb, my Official Photographer, caught that shot just at the moment when we overheard Double-you Eight No Balls pissing 'n moaning about the AM'ers being so strapping that he was gonna have to shut down his ricebox and go to bed.
