This is an old concept that I had seen a long time ago. It is very handy, so I posted it here for those who might not know about it.
With a few simple components (filament or other low voltage transformer and some resistors) you can use your O-scope to troubleshoot components in circuit, using Lissajous figures. Always handy if you are working on old equipment and are reluctant to start desoldering ancient joints etc.
