I just noticed that at the bottom of each post there is a link called "report to moderator".  What is the purpose of this?  In case the post is incorrect or improper, it should be used to report the poster.

I guess it's in case someone joins and posts spam or porn (except for radio porn). Such a person would have no interest in self-policing.

If you click on it you get a  message box to fill out and a note that says:

"Use this function to inform the moderators and administrators of an abusive or wrongly posted message.
Please note that your email address will be revealed to the moderators if you use this."

The moderators will take it from there as needed

Of all places that doesn't need it, this is the place.  It could be useful over at another site I can think of.

Jim:

The function comes with the forum software. It's been there for a long while. It does get used now and again.

Looks like it went away.

I don't see it with either Firefox 3.6.13 or IE 8.0.6001.xxx unless I'm missing it somehow. No matter I usually do not see posts 'bad' enough to have to report. Is it called from another server? e.g. I only see 1&1's ad, no others. Don't see it in source but that doesn't mean much these days.

Small blue link at the lower right of every post, Patrick.  I don't know why it would show up in FF and not IE....

Here's how your post reads and looks in I.E. 8 when you don't log in. "Report to moderator" does not appear.

Doesn't seem to be browser-dependent.  I'm running firefox 3.6.16 and it shows up for me.

John:
Maybe, for whatever reason, within bowels of forum software and browser code churning, the 'Report to moderator" has now become only visible to administrators and moderators. And, unless I log in, I can't see it either which obviously makes sense. Don't remember the last time I received a "report to moderator" message.

You're right.  I don't see it, Pete with this test account.  Lemme see if I can figure out what's up.  I know we've received reports as recently as a month ago.

It's been purposely disabled in the CP, presumably for a reason.

That Report to the moderator came back on QSO and Tech area. I just upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1. I don't know if that anything to do with it coming back?

Interestingly, it's not on this page so someone must have a way to tick it on and off at Headquarters.
