A number of us were on Saturday night on 75 AM. Several guys were on 10 meter AM Saturday and Sunday. I even worked some 6 meter AM. See the Band Watch Section.

I listened on both 160 and 75 yesterday and last night, but heard no AMers, only SSB. Disappointing!

For once wx was cooperative so I fired everything up on 3885 around 7 p.m. local last night and not hearing anything called CQ, some guy answered me but then I sort of got yelled at because it turned out there was a QSO there after all.  Ooops, so I went up to 3890 and worked a guy running a Flex Radio in Lima OH for about 30 minutes.  He couldn't hear me very well, I had a fairly good copy on him but things tanked eventually and I called it a night.  Condx seemed real lousy in general.  I guess it is simply the time of year to forget about operating and go to hamfests, read, do antenna maintenance etc.

I called CQ and got a reply.  The guy said I should yield to Field day operations.

Conditions definitely were better the higher up in frequency you went. 20/15/10 meters were hopping throughout the entire weekend.

Did he tell you that on slopbucket or did he push the little AM button on his plastic radio?  I would have not even acknowledged that and gone right back to CQing.   I would have pushed every watt I had and put on a CQ tape loop if I had one.

I didn't really hear that many stations operating FD.

He asked me what class I was and I told him Class C.   He tried to argue with me because I wasn't mobile.

Honestly, I didn't care much for the reception.  I had worked all night and was tired so I went to bed instead of fight with all that.  No big deal.  I just found it a bit strange that these people think they own all the non-Warc bands.  Some honestly think non-field day operators should not be on those bands.

I operated for about 6 hours on Saturday night from my club station, K3YTL. I was on 6 meter SSB for about an hour, then went to 80 meter CW. This is one of the very few contests that I operate. Usually, contest weekends are for equipment maintenance or, if they occur in the spring or summer, for yard work.

Saturday nite we operated on 3875 AM as usual with the gang and just ignored the FD crud.
About 9:30 PM Tron and I went up to 10 Meters and had a go at 29.000 AM. A bit choppy but HLR mountain was heard in Ohio!!!

Sunday morning more of the same. Operated 80, 40 and 10 meter AM and ignored the FD crud.
Some tried to push me off 7290Khz but were not successful. The Viking Bud with the variac at full is one tough puppy!!!

I didn't even listen the entire weekend.  All day Saturday it was one thunderstorm  right after the other.  I hardly even turned on the computer, let alone any of the radio equipment.  By the time everything was plugged in and the computer booted up, another cloud would be on the horizon. On Sunday, my son and his wife came for a visit.  We went out for lunch, and after we came back home, they visited with us for the rest of the afternoon.  After they left I worked on a project that involved mixing up epoxy, so that demanded all my attention.
