304-TH - Workin' it

« on: December 14, 2006, 08:22:03 PM »

Fading in an out, directly to the north from here.
Semicircle arc of purple and white fading in and out over 15 minute periods, about 10º-15º above the horizon. VERY bright, easily noticeable. At the max points there's reddish rays extending to the south (or towards overhead).

OK that explains the fluttery signals on 40M.
It works like a clock..................after 6:20PM 'BCQ disappears from a needle pinning signal to a mushy sounding audio and deep fades.

Bill - I noticed it on 160M back East, especially around 8-10PM. Near in signals weren't quite as strong and they had rapid QSB on them. Signals 300 miles or so away were about as strong as they normally were (Duane, KK4AM in Central Va.) but didn't have as much rapid QSB as some of the closer in stations. Later on around 11PM, everybody's signals came up to their usual level and the QSB wasn't as pronounced.

Best Regards,
