Sitting around the livingroom with the family tonight watching the endless political ads we noticed a real lack of pill ads on TV. Almost miss the pill pushers for all the mud slinging.

The one I hate the most is smiling Bob and his ugly wife on my tv screen talking about pills to give him an HO while I'm eating my damn dinner. Angry

Not down here!

With a highly contested gubenetorial race and a very heated race for 1 open senate seat it has been nothig but political adds. All negative and now getting personal and nasty!! Lots of good mud slinging.  should be a very interesting election!! Look out for 'HANGING CHADS"!!

Not sure but I can guarantee you from personal experience a dirty one is the secret to meeting Mr Defibrillator, a month in the hospital, several surgeries and the rest of one's life nearly completely dependent on the wife for everything.

The political ads here in the Sunshine State are as ridiculous as everywhere else.  It's tougher for me since I have yet to figure out which bufoon represents the district I live in and which doesn't.   So I listen to them all and realise that hanging chads and GW Bush are the LEAST of the problems here.

A few of the democraps sound more like rebooblicans than the rebooblicans themselves.  Then there's the two idiots running for some office slinging mud at each other for having been named "insurance industry friend of the year" or some such BS.  Research has shown they're both right:  they were each named as such in succeeding years.

I guess they're betting on the old folks leaving the chads hanging again.   Geeeez and I moved here why?

Oh yeah, cuz it was 77 degrees yesterday!

Speaking of colons,

One of the local cretins had on his public office phone record a 1 min call to a sex line....  he said, 'wrong number', the other moron is using this as a smear tactic...  is one min enough?  .... Anyway, in my heart, I know they are both no good........

another moron had a state car with a driver to drive his wife around...

another m*r*n got elected as the state comptroller after 911;    the state pension fund took a nose dive as its mostly invested in the stock market. The stock market went back up in the last 5 years, so now his claim is that  under HIS management, the pension fund has grown greatly....   Yeah, yeah, yeah....    lye, lye, lyes  .....

I had a friend who had a constriction in his small intestine, he died....     klc

Yeah, but some klutz will take two or three sleeping pills, get behind the wheel of a car or truck, fall asleep at the wheel, get into  an accident, kill someone, and then try and sue the sleeping pill manufacturer. This way they can say they gave warning that  the pill may cause drowsiness. Makes good legal sense.

Dino,

I watch most commercials simply to study the latest advertising techniques they're puking out. I find it interesting. BUT the ones I can't stand, and click away immediately are those expensive and useless new car commercials.

The bastards spend millions blowing up and wrecking fine cars, elaborate sets, etc. They should be ashamed of themselves for the incredible waste in making them. They are recognizable in the first 3 seconds. And guess who ends up paying higher car prices to support them? It's a frenzy of who can be the most outrageous and wasteful. They should take that money and build bridges, roads, houses... anything but car commercials!

How's that for an old buzzard rant?   Could George/GAC do better about his usual "careless young blonde girls driving red cars?"  Grin

Are there still any hokey, laughable local commercials on teevee out there in the east?
There's a few in Denver, one for a used car dealer called Rocky's Autos and another for Titan Auto Insurance (Soundtrack: Tighten Up (Titan, get it) by Archie Bell and the Drells). There used to be some real winners on the late-night B-movie shows. Carpet and appliance dealers, used cars, bail bondsmen, DUI attorneys, whotta hoot.

(Soundtrack: Tighten Up (Titan, get it) by Archie Bell and the Drells).

Oh yeah, one of my favorites - the "Tighten Up" with Archie.  Reminds me of a guy in high school who did a lot of speed. One day in the cafeteria we egged him on to dance on the table during study hall. He jumped up all speeded up and danced and sang  the Tighten Up. The freaked out teachers marched him to the principal's office as he continued to laugh and dance!  Grin Grin Grin

One of my favorite commercials is the cavemen at dinner in the Geico commercials.  The take off of that ad is the caveman seeing his picture on a billboard - another good one. And Little Richard Geico ad. Those writers certainly should get an award for the last few years of gag ads.

I find the most overused and irritating two words on these damned commericals are:

(1) PROFESSIONAL

(2) DIARRHEA.

Examples, "Ask your health care professional..........may cause diarrhea."

               "For control of diarrhea................."

                "Ask your eye care professional................"

                 "Ask your financial professional................"

                  "Ask your real estate professional............."

How about, "Ask your plumbing professional to fix your pipes"?

or, "Ask your postal professional to leave your mail at the back door"?

All these so-called professionals are enough to give me diarrhea!  (That word usually appears during the dinner hour)  To the garbage heap with them all!  "Ask your garbagological professional."   Grin

I watch so little commercial TV that I've seen no more than 2 or 3 political ads this season.

When I do surf the commercial channels, I get awfully tired of being advised to "ask my doctor."

No wonder prescription meds are so costly.  When we buy meds we're supporting not only the drug industry but also the friggin' broadcast indurstry.

It's not the first time I've heard these commercials but on the way home from work tonite I heard another diet pill ad. The pill was guaranteed to help you loose weight, and keep it off, when combined with proper exercise and a healthy diet..

Umm.. Hello! Are people that naive??

I mean isn't it already a fact of human biology that unless someone has some sort of medical condition, that proper exercise and a healthy diet pretty much anyone can loose weight and help keep it off!?  Hmm.. What do I need that pill for?? It may not be as easy as taking a pill but a walk around the block is allot cheaper than a $100 bottle of snake oil pills!

Yes, a person with no true illness can control thier weight easily enough.  But it requires something a lot of people lack these days. Discipline. You have to be personally strong enough to know that you only need to eat a reasonable amount of food to begin wiht, and to actually get some kind of physical activity...  Pill are easier...

Ever notice that all these so called medications, don't CURE a damn thing, they just treat the symptoms so you can keep buying them?Huh
I've yet to get a prescription that I would only have to take ONCE and be done except for antibiotics, and those are becoming less effective thanks to over use causing bacteria to develope resistance...

Well,
I asked my 'Health care Professional' (theres that word again!) He was honest enough to tell me flat out.. Medication as you say, does not cure anything, Medication in fact is a 'Toxin to achive desired results'. Yes, that's right a 'toxin' anything you put in your body to alter it's chemistry other than used for nourishment is a 'toxin', of course with the foods today, even that is debatable!  Most of it is loaded with toxins, artificial flavours and colours, preservatives, etc.

But then again, I guess that's why they say a Doctor is 'Practicing Medicine' that's just another way to say they still haven't gotten it right without hurting their egos! LOL

Another thing is I have a friend who lived for years and years with all the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, but never sought treatment, her body seemed to cope just fine. Other than common seemingly harmless symptoms she really had no serious issues. After a routine blood test they found she had it. They put her on daily Insulin injections. Now she can't live without it! How'd she live so many years with an insulin imbalance and cope just fine then all of a sudden she gets daily insulin shots and if she misses one or her sugar goes out of balance she's sick as a dog. Seems to me the body has it's own way of making things balance on it's own and when you ingest a toxin it starts to break down. How else could you explain it??

No wonder there is such a drug problem in this country when from birth to death people are bombarded with promises that theres a pill for everything that ales you! When they can tax it it's legal, when they can't its illegal.
