It’s that time of year again.  Winter is on the way and fall is here, depending where you live.  The lower frequency HF bands are much quieter, now that the static from the summer thunderstorms is gone.  Do you feel left out when you hear other AMers talk about getting on 160 meters because you don’t have room for an antenna?  Well, you may have room after all.

Get the full story in the Tech section of The AM Window Web Site. Lots of other recent updates too. Enjoy.

Good one Steve, but how about the inverted L and the Vee at 125 feet on a leg.
When My Dipole fell down I put up a vee waiting for a tree to fall over out in the woods. The Vee angle is only 60 degrees but it keeps me on 160. The performance doesn't match the dipole but get it done.
Another point with the short dipole is the length of the open wire feeders in series with the element helps set the input z of the antenna. A trick I plan to take advantage of at the other qth with #10 or #8 feeder wire then drop the ends vertical a bit.

I was hoping to find a write up for a short vertical.

W3R hasn't got the property for much of a doublet, and if I expect to get the 300-G on from there I need a 160 ant of some kind.

Advice any and all apc.

Yep, verts and L's are good ants on 160, if properly done. I purposely did not delve into those antennas in my article (good subject for another article, and there seems to be plenty of other literature on those antennas). I was targeting those who already have a 75 meter dipole up but don't have room for a 160 meter dipole.

Let's discuss L's and verts in the Tech section.

Good stuff that could be scaled down for use on higher bands if necessary too.

Thanks!
