I got home yesterday afternoon with the TX after a quick trip over to VY2 and back.My father and Walter,VY2DU, helped me load the TX Monday evening. It was located at the old 720 CHTN transmitter site. This tx has not been used in years and is still crystalled for the old freq. of 1190.Everything looked fine except for a blackened RF tube but I have at least a dozen spare 4-400's which even though they are used should get me through for a while. Not sure if there are any new ones in the bunch.I also got a bunch of 6146's and some 2E26's as well. There are some new ones of each of those.I will try and post some pix in a day or three but I must admit I forgot the camera and missed any shots of the removal from the site.  Embarrassed  I will have some of it going into the basement as well as after the fact.I still need to clear out a path to move it into the final operating position. When it was laying in the trailer all wrapped in a tarp Walter commented that no one would probably bother it overnight as it looked like a casket.I said it probably will be my casket after the XYL sees what it actually is that is going in the basement.   Grin  73 Pix in a day or 3.

Here are some PIX. More to follow as I get the beast into it's new home.I first need to make room for it.I got lots of used 4-400's for it as well as some 6146's and 2E26's.I also got a REALLY nice 8 amp RF ammeter and new spare plate supply filter caps.I need to repair one RF tube socket,a pin came out when I pulled the tube. The tube was black and I suspect the faulty connection was the cause.I hope that is all that is wrong with it.I will first try it out on 1190 at 250 watts,on a dummy load of course.Time to make those Globars glow. Grin I need to make a better DL actually.Mine is only good for 500 watts dry and I do not want to drop it into a bucket of oil again.I just got it all cleaned up a year ago.Time to find some stove elements. Wink

Mine was full of flies too, when I got it.  Had to blow it out with compressor.  Did you get the four long "chimney" tubes, that fit over the 4-400's?

It was at the 720 CHTN transmitter site on route 19 about 3.5 miles SW of Charlottetown centre out towards Rocky Point. The site is a 10 Kw site and this TX was a 1 Kw backup. The site has since been changed to 720 from the original freq. of 1190 which is what my TX is tuned for.It will be going dark in October as they have since flipped over to FM. Now if they would only let me have the solidstate 10 kilowatt Nautel Ampfet 10 as well. Grin

Yep.I got the long chimney tubes and the glass chimnies that fit around the 4-400's as well.Everything made the 400 Km trip in good shape.I just managed to put a good scrape in the side panel as we slid it down the planks into the basement.Nothing a little shot of Trem-Clad can't take care of.It will be on the far side and not seen anyway.
