LOL!

I spent the day driving up to Torrington, WY (in the E-Central part of the state) to pick up a load of grass hay for the critters. It's been so hot and dry here in CO that our spring grass never grew this year, even worse than 2002.  There just isn't any grass hay available around here this summer.

The straight air temo up there was 110F, according to WX radio on the FT-100..Seat belt buckles felt like branding irons in the sun. It hit 117 degrees over in adjacent South Dakota, an all-time record. On top of that the wind was gusting to 35 MPH, sucking the juices right out of you.

I tell you, my old Ford 460 lugger would have never made the trip without overheating. Got a diesel now and it was sweating a bit on the uphills at 70 with 6 tons of load on the flat bed, but we did OK.

I did have the XYL along and I wasn't near a beach so no eye candy to report.
Hit another record of 103 in Denver today, third day straight of 100+..At a mile above sea level. Unreal.

That's summer  for you. Which ios why I often wonder, why do people love summer so much ?? It's usually uncomfortably hot, humid,or both. I don't see what's  to like about it  I'd much rather have fall or winter with lower temps, less humidity, etc . I find that much more enjoyable  than extremely hot, humid, oppressive  summer.

Yes, it reached a uncorfortable high of 84 yesterday (Pinedale, Wy), and is presently 52. Going to be another hot one since usually the nighttime temp is about 45.

Start 3 weeks vacation today, not looking foward to going back to Golden, Co. and then on to the east coast. Sounds way too hot.

That's because you guys get so little of it.  From the time I have spent in Canada, I remember two seasons.  One lasts 9 months and is called winter.  The other one lasts 3 months, and is called spring-summer-fall.

I have a friend in Texas whom I talk with on 40 metros.  The other day he was bragging that it was going to be 102 degrees.  I told him I couldn't stand that kind of heat.  He replied that they have very low humidity.  I told him that there is very low humidity in my oven too, but I don't stick my head in there. Grin  I'm with John on this one!

93 in the shade here at the House of HUZ. Other local temps:

Williamsburg: 97
Richmond: 99
Norfolk: 92

I think it was actually worse here on Saturday. The humidity is down here today at 44%, making for a
Heat Index of 105 degree. Saturday had a high of 93 but the humidity was at or near 100%. Yuck!

I am seeing the high temp for the day as I type.  108 degrees in the shade and no wind.  Humidity is about 35-40%.  No break until September.

We were sleeping with blankets Staurday night at the beach. We get a nice breeze off the water after the sun goes down. It was almost 90 in the house when we hit home base last night. XLY glad I made the command to start the AC and let the meter spin...she wanted to hold off.

Barrow Alaska...

Currently 54 deg and cloudy
Tonight, partly cloudy and 45..
Later in the week for thursday night it will be 38 with clouds and sunshine.

Must be awesome to live in a place where the sun never sets through the summer. And never rises from Nov - late January. And if this heat continues I think I'll move up there.

Sounds just about like the subway station I was standing in only a short time ago.

Good Grief John, have you thought about giving it up and moving to where the heat is generated by the sun?

..the most northern part is a place called ellesmere island...at it very top,i think it is something like 900miles from the pole...there is a canadian forces base there, called alert..alot of it underground, and used for tracking purposes...built during the 50s/60s,it provided communications and was watching the russians..part of the whole dew line and norad tracking for incoming bombers...as i mentiomed earlier, this is a typical summer for us,the humidity is worsened by the fact that southern ontario is surround bt the great lakes..as far as winter,we dont get much snow here, but across the lakes (erie, ontario),ny state, penn, ohio get tons more snow, because when cooler air travels south,it picks up the moisture of the lakes, and reaching land-fall,the snow dumps on those u.s. states...tim...sk..
