I'll check to see if son Dave can bring up the laptop and projector that we used to show "Voice of Victory" last fall, and will check with Dale re the KW1I mil spec movie screen.  Assume you have the DVD of Empire of the Aiir,  Bruce?

Dont forget to tune up and bring up your Coleman lanterns for the "Festival of (Coleman) Lights".

W1E might be a special event station for the New England QSO Party which just happens to be running on Hosstraders weekend...

Hi Chris, have missed you on 75 AM in the AM.

Yes, have the Empire DVD and some others.
Will bring along if you have a projector and such.
Its a great program, a bit long in spots, but you can fast forward through the DeForest bio.
The best parts are about Armstrong and RCA, really very well done.
Major Armstrong would be 116 this year.

Dinner at Cheers in Concord again, or someplace else? Suggestions? Last fall it was starting to rain when we got back, but the spring version was great. We filled up several tables with stellar AMers!

Movie sounds great too, but that one is 3+ hours long, IIRC. Better screen it between the keg and the rest room.

Looking forward to it!

Anyone not going because fuel costs are preventing them from travel? I was planning on my first overnight but now I'm rethinking my plans.

The increase isn't that bad!!

Coming from Syracuse is a long run for me Bob. It takes about 6 - 7 hours of driving depending on the traffic and my foot in proportion to the turbo..

My car gets on the average about 27 miles to the gallon (depending on the foot/turbo formula) and a fill up will get me about 500 miles. Since it takes about $60.00 opposed to about $47.00 last year to  fill the tank I figure with the increase in fuel it will cost me no more than $30.00 more than the last trip or about $15.00 each fill up.

A few less snacks, beer.no lap dances and radio junk to bring home works to balance the equation!!

I guess what I am saying is I would spend that money anyway. It just sucks it can't be on radio stuff  and solar panels OM.

Hosstraders NH 8'29" 496 mi
Rochester NY 6'45" 386 mi
Dayton O. 8'11" 507 mi

Damn. I have to figure out which one I want to hit.
Looks like nearest Hosstraders accomodations are 45min away in Concurd.

I dont' relish 90min 3X drive after 8.5 on the road with another 8.5 ahead of me.
Is there anything close to the fest?  I see camping only on Friday night.

Concord is only about 15 - 20 minutes away.. It is where most non-campers stay. The Fairfield still has rooms at $79

Last time we went it was about a 20 minute ride from the homotel downtown Concord to the fest. Lot to see on the way.

$650/month for gasoline for this household at current gas prices.  Trust me, it's bad.

Dayton is a lot more fun. More equipment to see, more to buy or fondle, definitely more wierd people to see in action and you can rub elbows with all your ARRL and FCC friends too.

Remember Boxboro in MA is coming up in August. This year they're talking about a  3 day affair and you stay at a hotel right on the flea market grounds.

Spend the money and go with the best bang for the buck.

And Dayton's got the Air Force Museum, with an ART-13 in situ in a bomber.

G hit it on the nose. The trip might cost you another $30-40 tops. If that's bad, then you shouldn't be going to a fest next door. Keep the money!

Car that gets 35 MPG,
Gas at $2.10/gal (about the lowest price in these parts as of about Feb, actually saw $2.03),
Trip of 200 miles each way - total 400,
Equals 11.428571 gallons of gas with a cost of $24.

At $3.00/gal price (not even close to that in these parts yet),
The cost would be $34.29, an increase of $10.29. This could be made up by packing your lunch or skipping some of the generally crappy fest food.

So your car only gets 20 MPH,
the gas used would be 20 gallons.
At $2.10/gal, the cost would be $42,
At $3.00/gal, the cost would be $60,
an increase of $18. Sneak into the fest and save the entrance fee, mooch a free meal and beer, and everything is even!

OK, OK, OK....  Alright already.... Uncle.  The last thing I want to do is look like a weener.  I'm going.  You convinced me.  Geesh....

One question:  I've never camped there.  Can one drive into the grounds and setup camp or do they have to park out in the field and setup camp in the grounds?
