Thanks again for the replies, guys. I have a lot of things to try now. Swapping the drives sounds like a great idea.

Right now, I'm awaiting an OS CD from Dell for XP, and that has the drive backup routine I need. I just installed two backup drives, so want to get everything saved before I go in there monkeying around. These computer's lives are at great risk when I get in there.

The next step afterwards will be to add 1 gig of ram. Whether it helps or not,who knows, but it's a good upgrade anyway.

I may try shutting off many of the programs running in the background too. The acid test is running the Kid From Brooklyn's video and see if Mike stutters... Grin

Yo Dino. Glad to see you're back.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

With my Dell Dimension, I also received a "Resource CD". Besides FAQ's, and device drivers, it also includes diagnostics and utilities that you can run to test various sections of your computer. It won't test for window applications or overhead, but it will test all your installed hardware. You should have received one of these CD's in your package if you bought the machine directly from Dell.
