I heard a country song on my car radio the other day that I would like to add to my iPod.
I did not get the name of the singer (male), or the song.
In the song he talks about starting to have a beer at 12 or 12:15 (on Friday I think) and how he feels about his boss etc. I have heard the song in passing before but cannot find it. Does anyone know what this is?

Back to my beer now

Carl,
Maybe you can find it on the net  in the radio stations playlist, if they have a playlist.

Yes tell us. Did his girlfriend take off with his pick-up and his old hound dog was in the cab? Was he drinking his beer down near his favorite fishing hole?

Was it a song about the guy who hates everything? His boss, his X-wife and even his life?

Sounds like it might have been "Five O'clock Somewhere" by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet.  Was a big hit a couple of years ago.  Fun song, great video on CMT.  I've been to the bar that the video was shot at - The Square Grouper Bar in Juipiter Inlet, FL.  Cool place.  Big tiki bar right on the inlet.  Jackson apperently hangs out alot there as he keeps his Rybovitch sport-fisherman "Hullbilly"  (which also appears in the video) in Jupiter.  Lucky guy....

Trivia question of the day - who on the forum knows what a square grouper is?

A square grouper is a fish also.  There are a couple of varieties. They're mostly found near the northern coast of South America near Venezuala.  They do come north and stray off towards the Florida keys at times.

Glad you liked the song Karl...I first heard it when I was working tons of OT on weekends and nights.  I really identified with the song.  I don't know if the references to the "Hurricane" drinks are as well received in South Forida and along the Gulf anymore...people are pretty tired of the H word down there now!

Re the square groupers - they are definitely NOT un-hip!  There was quite a fishery for them in the 70s down in the Keys, but I understand that it has slowed considerably in recent years.
