Just saw TV coverage of them tossing it out the hatch.
They mentioned a "radio" that people can hear on the ground.
No frequency mentioned, no mention of "ham radio."

I'd have it transmitting on 88.2 and playing a loop of the '62 hit "Telstar" by the Tornados as it orbited around the earth. Major Tom wouldn't be a bad choice, either.

Either ABC or NBC evening news,  NYC, did a piece on it this evening. I don't remember what channel was on at the time.
They mentioned radio operators will be able to pick up the messages by tuning into FM frequency 145.990 MHz.

Right Pete, generic "radio operators."  I guess there's something slightly unsavory about calling it a ham radio, since that group in Newington has made such a mess of our image.

The BBC-TV news at 7 p.m. Friday night had a very good piece on SuitSat.  They mentioned amateur radio many times.  The transmitter is on 145.990 MHz.

The word is that the satellite died after 2 orbits.

Eyeballing the map, it looks like a very good pass will come over the northeastern U.S. around 10:20 a.m. Eastern time Saturday morning.

You don't need to look to Newington for an image blast; just listen to some of our amateur bands.
