Here's an update on the 440 saga. I ran LTSpice simulations of the mic amp stage.
The results were unexpected and surprising.

   put that radio into a good electrostatic speaker system fed with high grade oxygen free cable supported on quality speaker wire supports and you will find the receive audio mods are sorely needed. and while you are in the radio don't forget to disable or reduce the ALC on transmit or you will never have any positive peaks.
