Article in todays Radio World (Nov 9) by Jerry Arnold, K9AF, about conversion of his BC-250L to 160, plus building of his transmitter shack to house it. Nice work, good photos and tips. I could not find it online, but its on page 22-24 of the paper version.

Also, John Bissett's Workbench column in the same issue has a story I sent in recently, see  "Rodents and AC Don't Mix".

Hey John:  Is this article in radio world about the rca bta-250L transmitter? I sure hope it is. I am in process at the present time of converting my rca 250L to 160 mtrs. Well actually at present I am trying to get it on the orginal 1400khz that the radio station had it on first. Waiting on a tube 8008,  it should be hr this week. And then I will start looking for information on how to convert it to 160 mtrs, So I am hoping this article is abt the RCA BTA-250L like mine. Please let me know. Thanks Matthew KR4WI

No it was about the Gates BC-250L, which used a parallel pair of 810s for RF.

Sorry!

Is the RCA BTA-250L the narrow tall box with 813s in it or another?

Hello John:  No the bta-250L has a pair of 810s also, and modulated by 828s. A 828 buffer, and 807 oscillator. It is 40" wide,80"tall, 21"depth and weighs in at 1360 lbs net. Made in 1947 acording to manual, I have been working on it for abt two months, I thought sure I hit the jackpot when I seen your post, and got a little, well a whole lot excited. hi Well thanks alot for the information. In granting us permission to post the article John mentioned, Radio World's editor expressed his continued interest in our writing articles like this about our own projects. Please contact me to help put a story and pictures together for them?  We'd all like to see...
