Valiant Plate TFMR

While deconstructing my Valiant - I notice the plate transformer is likely not the original.  It is a Geo. Sturley, 118:1800 CT @ 0.5 Amp.

Dahl's Valiant replacement is a 120:1520 CT @ 0.4A.  I do not know what the original tfmr specs are.

In any case, if I beef up the filter caps appropriately, will the extra 100vdc or so on the 6146B plates hurt anything?  Or am I asking for trouble and should choke/divide the B+ down to the "spec" 600v.?

Don't sweat it. Just make sure the bias voltages are set for the correct resting currents. I run 1100 volts on my 6146 Modulators in my valiant and they don't show any problems.

1100 volts!   So much for tube spec sheets.  I think the highest max plate voltage I could find is like 600 CCS/750 ICAS.   Obviously there is some other reason besides plate voltage that causes them to fail or weaken prematurely?
