Hi All:

BE has a new AM transmitter.

I might call them to see what I can find out about what is under the hood. Line switchers/modulators. What I kinda wanna do next on my E-rig.

Gee, I wonder if they have a 75M retrofit kit.

Wow, they've come a long way, baby.

I notice they're using class E for their transmitters.  They call it "patented class E technology".... Grin

That 10KW is the only commercial AM rig in one rack, they say.

The 1KW looks the size of a micrwave oven.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Tom-Boy

Yes, and they have "4M Modulation" too!

I think I'll e-mail John Bissett, KD4LJD of BE and see what he can let outta the bag.

That 50 kw transmitter looks about the same size as the early 50's vintage Gates BC1-F, that ran 1 kw with a quad of 833A's.

Compare it to this pre WW2 50 kw:

Hands down one of the most impressive things I've seen. Dan, plz ask what's the highest frequency it'll go to when you call. Didn't I see this a few months back on the class-E forum?

Hi Bill:

You may have seen this before.  I went to a local SBE convention and got  basic sales info on it two days ago. I read the two papers last night. The Class E was old. The modulation was new.

I sent an e-mail to the regional sales manager (a ham) inquiring about a PDF manual on the rig. No answer yet of course. Probably no as the modulation scheme is patent pending.

Don:
Yes it aint the same as the wall of cabinets with tubes, air and water cooling!
I saw a Western Electric 50kw tx at WHAS AM a few years back...wonderful cinstruction. I do miss that when working on the SS stuff.

Maybe I can Class E an 833?
