Does anyone know if Chuck Rippel has a PM on this forum?
I have searched almost everywhere and all I get is returned mail from other sites that carried his R390A repairs and tips.

I am looking for some coils to replace one or more coils that are crapped in the RF deck of my R-390A. Dunno what happened to the beast.
Thanks
Fred

Fred,
It may be just the slugs have come apart. Check the R390 reflectors but I have not heard anything from him lately. Try Fair Radio for parts.

I know he's still around.  Spoke with him over the air last week for quite a while(on that OTHER mode  Shocked)
He has been busy serving time with a local military affiliate.

I wish it were that simple but something has deformed the coil that the core was stuck. I noticed as I tried to align, T202 on the low or middle of the AM BC band. The metal thing that lets the core hang inside the coil broke. Thank Goodness that it resoldered, then I noticed that it wouldn't slip smoothly down the core.
There was another Chuck who PMd me and he has some ideas.
Thanks all

Fred I don't show him in the member database under call sign or name. Then again, I would not find YOU that way either.

Yes, Chuck told me this past spring his Coast Guard unit was called up and deploying, so he may not be doing much with his R390A business meantime, including answering the mail.

He was mentoring another fellow to handle the routine restoration work, I don't know the status of that.

Do you have band aids on the tuner or just reducing power? I missed you by about 1 hour.
