Hi Tom

Well I had the chance to catch the rigs maiden transmission OM>

I have two digital recordings .

The first is Paul checking into the AWA net (abt 4 megs)

The second is Pauls entire first transmission which gives detail to the rig and it's workings.
(abt 60megs)  Great Stuff!!

Conditions were not that bad considering the time of day.

Here they are : These are large files and a good internet connection will be needed. The recording was made using the Watkins Johnson WJ-8716.

Tom,
It was a pleasure having your dad check into the AWA net with his 60 year old HB rig.  It really sounded great and it was sure nice to hear both father and son on the air.

Thanks Gary for the great recording to celebrate the occassion.

All the best.

Gary,

Thanks for making the recordings.  Unfortunately, I am a dial-up guy here at home.  I'll see if I can get the files transferred to a CD.

Dave,

Thanks for moving the AWA net back to 3838 kHz.  It worked out o.k.

If you haven't seen my postings decribing my father's rigs and station, with photos, go to the Technical Forum, and click on the "OM's 1940's AM Rig About To Be On Air" topic.  I have several long descriptions and many photos.  I will add a few more photos also in the coming weeks.
