I remember driving south on I-35 near Waco Texas during one particularly rough summer afternoon.  The TV towers out there in central Texas are 1500-2000 feet some of them.  This day we watched as nearly constant lightning bolts shifted among a few towers that were near each other and at times we actually saw bolts from tower to tower.   Certainly an awesome yet terrifying sight.

On another note, I don't like to gain humour from folks who are down, but they DID name the town "Hurricane . . . "    

"Nearly continuous storms resulted in flash flooding in southern Putnam County, particulary on Hurricane Creek in Hurricane."
