Can the Johnson 6n2 transmitter be used directly/easily with a Ranger's VFO?

The 6n2 needs input in the 8-9Mhz range.

There is a Johnson 6n2 VFO which does show up occasionally, and one by Ameco.  I think there's also a 6/2M vfo made by National, which is a bit more hard to come by.
