It's Nearfest time again, this Friday and Saturday, and the weather looks promising for both days.
I will be there both days, and looking forward to seeing some fellow AM'ers there.

I think I'll save some gas and not go but Sunday 5/3 , there's a hamfest north of Philly that mile wise is not that far away.
I hate getting up early! Tongue to go look at other people's discards.

I hate getting up early, too, but I'll be up at 0230 to head down to Sussex in July. Probably see you there, Pete.

I already have my two inside tables reserved. Same far right corner where I'm been for roughly the last 40+ years.
Plus, since I have to set my stuff up, I generally don't have time to go wander outside. I'll probably donate several door prizes too.
And, over the last several years, monies collected from hamfest, swap meets, or local flea market sales all get donated to St. Jude Children's Research hospital.

Well, the forecast continued to evolve, as they tend to do, and Saturday turned rainy, but Friday more than made up for it with bright sun and a great turnout of sellers and buyers both.
Came home with a box full of 813's and 810's, dirt cheap so probably of dubious goodness, but worth a shot, a couple of excellent Jennings vacuum relays from Dave Snyder's always excellent table, as well as a very nice 4CX1500B, also from Dave's table.
Managed to meet up with a few fellow AM'ers, too, which rounded out another fine Nearfest.

That's a very fine thing you do, Pete. Good on you.
Looking forward to seeing you down there.

The thing with hamfests is that I always come home a bit disappointed, but I still love them, anyway. I make a big list of all the things I'm looking for, and in the weeks leading up to the event, I'll imagine I'll find nearly everything on the list, yet in actual fact, I'll be lucky if I find 10% of them.
It's the box-of-chocolates thing, the anticipation and suspense, you never know what you're going to get.
That, and the social interaction, make the drive worthwhile.

I am glad that you had a good time up there Bill. I was not there nor planned to go anyway myself. I have not been able to access this site in weeks as usual but there was a great Nearfest report on 50.4 last night from Gary, W1PG. I guess I missed a Heathkit Shawnee that was a bargain. I don't need it, but I never had one and don't see them around, and being 6M, I would have to grab it. Maybe see you up at the Goshen fairgrounds.

Hi, Larry! I can't remember the last time this site was up and running this late in the day. At the risk of jinxing it, I hope it's a good sign.
I really have to start getting on the 50.4 net more often. Just a lot of other stuff going on, and no time to work on the Zeus lately.
Actually, there were two Shawnees up there, though I didn't check the price. Both were nice-looking. Neat little rig, with a traditional modulation transformer, not Heising.
I will definitely be at Goshen, hope to see you there!
