It has become one of life's mysteries. It seems to come alive after 9:30 PM EDT. However, it's alive time, even at night, tends to vary.

I normally don't log on at night. This is the first time I've seen the site up during the day in about a month

I got a different error message about an hour ago and not the Error 500 that was appearing before.

   I suspect that there are other things going on, as well: I've noticed that "no new posts" is often displayed for a forum, yet upon opening it, there are indeed new posts.
   A minor problem, though, compared to not being able to access it at all.
