This weekend I will be part of the annual Able Archer 83 event, a place where we all get together and set up all our old military radio junk in the field and try to make contacts. Will be doing a RTTY net on 7087 Saturday morning, a forty-meter USB net after that just to work up all those Hams who can’t stand people working outside some unwritten band plan that says you can only use AM or LSB on forty. Long story short but most military SSB radios don’t do USB only so that why we do it.
The question is if anyone want to try to set up a schedule for a 7295 AM contact with us? We will be using a special call “W3A” all weekend but anticipate most contacts will be SSB
I can do a good AM impression with my GRC-106 running in in AM Mode where it runs USB plus injected carrier and sounds just like real AM
This year we will be setting up in Delaware, just outside of Smyrna.

The MMRCG (Midwest Military Radio Collectors Group) has been doing a net on 7296 every Saturday at ten in the morning on 7296 for a while now. We use USB being most military radios wont do LSB and the idea is that it wont cause interference to the AM cling frequency on 7290 On the first of the month we try to do the same net only in AM on 7295 so will be doing the 7296 thing this weekend unless someone parks on 7295 running AM first
