I received this email from John's wife Karyn today:

Quote
I am so sorry to have to write this but John WA1GOS passed away yesterday after a brief illness with a very aggressive prostate cancer which metastasized with a rapid decline over the last couple of weeks. Hospice care at the end making sure he was kept 'comfortable' and 'pain free'. Fast, I know, but for the best considering what he was facing with various other health issues complicating matters. Services will be in Tewksbury (Farmer & Dee Funeral Home) in a couple of weeks and final (cremated) interment /graveside service will happen in Pittsfield, MA probably in the Fall.

I have only known John since this past winter on 40 meter AM, but I understand he has many old friends going back many years. He will be missed.
