The MMRCG holds a regularly scheduled 3885 AM backpack and handheld net every year at the Hamvention. It is an opportunity to drag out your old surplus and WW2 radios and put them to work in the field. This year I was able to be net control so I put together a old Navy MAK transceiver including a power supply that ran everything from 12 volts.
We had around twenty-two check-ins with several people using GRC-9 and other newer military backpacks along with a dozen or so people running BC-611 handhelds.
A couple pictures, one of my net control station and one of most of the operators after the net.
